ABOUT RON

Ron McMahon was born and raised in the San Gabriel Valley area of Los Angeles County.  He earned his Bachelor of Architecture degree with honors from the University of Southern California in 1970.  After college he founded his own architectural and planning firm in Orange County, California.  His firm was involved in many exciting international projects where his creativity was nourished and exposure to foreign cultures was expanded.

Later, Ron moved to Rancho Santa Fe, California with his wife and children and transitioned his company into a real estate development firm.  Even though his professional career kept him very busy he always made time for volunteering on many boards including the YMCA, Asian Access, the Rancho Santa Fe Foundation and others.  His personal passions were running, fishing, skiing, horseback riding, and travel.

In 2012 Ron suffered a stroke which has reordered his life in many ways.  Although he goes to therapy daily, his stroke has left him with paralysis on his left side.  Thanks to four good friends from Montana who organized an artist to teach Ron painting, he now gets to pursue his newly awakened passion for art. With a wonderful teacher, Ron is nurturing his creative side and finding art very therapeutic.

As his friends have seen his paintings they have asked if they could buy any of them.  He has decided to sell his paintings and have the proceeds benefit two non-profit organizations he believes in, the San Diego Brain Injury Foundation and La Fuente Ministries.  Although Ron realizes his talent is modest, he would love to see his efforts go toward these two worthy organizations.

Please take time to view his portfolio.  Ron is more than willing to turn a photograph into a painting if you would like to commission him.
